Historic Leavenworth Park Plan
The community held several meetings over the course of a year and developed the following plan for our neighborhood Leavenworth Park. The park was originally set aside as an official city park in 1854. It wasn’t until 1893 when the park’s design was fully realized and implemented.
Today, many of the original trees still survive from the 1893 planting date, including a gorgeous European Purple Beech, as well as a rare Black Maple.
This fall, we are hoping to realize another significant milestone for the park. It has been two years in planning and we should finally see our beautiful new gazebo be installed in the center of the central promenade, where the fountain used to be. A big thanks to Assemblyman Magnarelli, as well as the City of Syracuse Parks Department.
